It was only a few days ago, where we were first reporting that a Kickstarter for a new entry into the widely popular side-scrolling shoot 'em up franchise R-Type was going to be crowdfunded on Kickstarter. Two days after the crowdfunding campaign began, Granzella proudly announced that they reach their initial goal of 45 million yen, or roughly $416,000. Based on the current amount, $508,000 (55 million yen), it doesn't appear that the Kickstarter campaign will be slowing down, and there are five more days remaining.
There are a slew of different stretch goals already planned for R-Type Final 2, one of which has already been reached. After breaking the $500,00 mark, the game will include a unified cross-region and cross-platform leaderboard. I expect that a few more of the stretch goals to be met before the end of the campaign. Some of the higher goals include remaking levels from previous R-Type games, including R-Type Final, R-Type, R-Type III, and more.
