Yoshi Wii U game announced

During the 1.23.13 Nintendo Direct conference, the rumblings and rumors have come true, a new game starring Yoshi as the main character will be coming to the Nintendo Wii U. Yoshi Wii U will be the first time since Yoshi’s Story on the Nintendo 64 that Yoshi will be the main focus in a game. No official name has been given to the game yet, but we can almost guarantee they will use some variation of Yoshi and Yarn. Perhaps, Yarn Yoshi.

The same team that brought us the charming Kirby’s Epic Yarn, is working on Yoshi Wii U under the supervision of Takashi Tezuka, the director on both Yoshi’s Island and Yoshi’s Story. The game appears to be a 2D platformer and using the same stylized wool and yarn visuals from Kirby’s Epic Yarn.
