Gaijin Entertainment has announced that their free-to-play massively multiplayer historical combat game War Thunder is finally ready to be released on the PlayStation 4 in North America on June 3, 2014. Initially thought as a launch title, only Europe has received the game outside of the PC/Mac open beta release.
Since the launch of the title, Gaijin has implemented several major updates to the game, including most recently the Ground Forces expansion pack. Not only can you take to the skies, but War Thunder now features armored vehicle combat including tanks and anti-air weapons (not unlike another war game that features tanks).
The PS4 North American release of War Thunder will feature the latest 1.41 version of the game, as well as the Ground Forces expansion. The game features 350 different planes, squadron battles, 150 different multiplayer missions, and single-player campaigns and scenarios.
Considering that I have been playing the game on the PC since the summer with a controller, first a DS3 and now the DS4, playing the game on a console will feel natural. It will be interesting to see what Gaijin ha in store for the future as well if the remote play feature will utilize some of the PlayStation Vita’s touch mechanics. We also promise that we will have more on War Thunder in the coming weeks, especially with E3 right around the corner.
