It was announced today that ArtCraft Entertainment, an independent game developer will be using the use of Voxel Farm technology in their upcoming Massively Multiplayer Online Game (MMORPG). Crowfall will focus on feudal conquest, political alliances and will feature campaigns that will go through four different stages until someone meets the victory conditions.
Voxel technology became mainstream mostly due to the wild success of Mojang's Minecraft, creating a sandbox environment for players to build without limitations. Crowfall will be using the technology for the opposite, allowing players to cause destruction on the scale never before seen in a persistent online world.
The Kickstarter page for Crowfall has gone live today and is already over $275,000 in pledges. ArtCraft Entertainment was founded by two of the most experienced executives in the history of online gaming, J. Todd Coleman (director, Shadowbane, Wizard101, Pirate101) and Gordon Walton (executive producer, Ultima Online, Star Wars Galaxies, Star Wars: the Old Republic).
