TeamPixel wants help buying the Homeworld IP

TeamPixel, a mobile and desktop app developer has setup a crowdsourcing project on Indiegogo to purchase the respectable Homeworld IP from THQ. While Relic Entertainment was already purchased by Sega, who developed the originals, it seems that Homeworld was not included in the sale.

TeamPixel seeks $50,000 in funding to begin the project of releasing Homeworld, Homeworld: Cataclysm and Homeworld 2 on both Steam and GoG.com for FREE, as well as develop new tablet versions allowing touch controls – a prototype video can be seen on Indiegogo. While $50k will only mark the start of the project, once reached, TeamPixel will attempt to acquire the rest of the funding from other sources. The main goal from the developers is to get Homeworld back into the minds of gamers, with the ultimate goal of releasing Homeworld 3 – YES, please!

There is a money-back guarantee if the plans do not work in their favor or if there are other parties interested in the IP. While TeamPixel has been in talks with the bank in charge of the auction, they currently do not have a set date for when the auction will take place.
