Independent developer KING Art Games has launched an ambitious Kickstarter campaign with the hope to fund the currently unfinished turn-based strategy game, Battle Worlds: Kronos. Focusing on their other projects, namely the Book of Unwritten Tales series (You can read our review of the latest game, The Critter Chronicles here), it has been size years since the project has been seen.
After a few successful entries in the point-and-click adventure genre, KING Art studios is ready to rebuild the title from the ground up with updated technology and rich visuals, while keeping the original ideas and gameplay mechanics intact.
For those uninformed, Battle Worlds: Kronos utilizes hexagonal style maps, giving it a classic strategy game feel. Battle Worlds: Kronos features two separate single-player campaigns, various challenge maps and both live and asynchronous multiplayer. Aiming for a multiplatform release across PC, Mac, Linux and all major browsers (multiplayer only), asynchronous matches can be played almost anywhere. An included map editor will allow gamers to create their own maps and missions.
Tactics will decide the fate of players, as you must take in consideration not only positioning of units, but the attack range of each, what kind of armaments are being used as well as possible upgrades. All individual units have their own set of strengths and weaknesses, which can be further expanded by assigning specific upgrades to the units.
Currently the $20 backing tier on Kickstarter is the lowered tier which not only includes the full digital release of the game, but will grant access to the closed beta and access to the development forums. Some of the higher tiers feature unique items, in-game and palpable, including: key chains, postcards, military bags and even having your name mentioned in the special thanks section of the game’s credits.
You can visit the official website for the game at battle-worlds.com or head over to the Kickstarter page now to place your pledge.
