Infiltrate a 1970s religious cult in The Church in the Darkness

Paranoid Productions has announced an action-infiltration game inspired by real-life events. The Church in the Darkness delves into the radical movements that were prominent in the 1970s. When two cult leaders, Rebecca and Isaac Walker, lead their brainwashed followers into the treacherous jungles of South America in order to escape the injustice of the US government. Founding a small settlement called "Freedom Town," the settlers prepare to protect their freedom from any outsiders that pose a threat to their way of life.

As a former law enforcement officer, you infiltrate the cult in order to check on your sister's son. Every time you play through the game, Freedom Town is uniquely generated, offering different character personalities and a shifting narrative told through your investigation and actions.

The roles of the cult leaders were written specifically for real life couple Ellen McLain and John Patrick Lowrie. Gamers will recognize Ellen for her role as GLaDOS in Portal & Portal 2. John is known for voicing the Sniper from Team Fortress 2. The couple is also helping to compose the game's soundtrack.

The Church in the Darkness is coming to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in early 2017.
