Just a few days ahead of Toy Fair 2013 in New York City, Activision has officially announced the next installment in the widely popular Skylanders franchise; Skylanders SWAP Force. Building upon the previous two titles, SWAP Force features “swapability” giving gamers of all ages more choices than ever in Skylanders by letting them swap top and bottom halves of the toys to create unique characters.
The 16 different SWAP Force characters can form over 250 unique combinations – 256 to be exact. All of the previous Skylanders from Spyro’s Adventure and Giants will be compatible with SWAP Force and will gain the ability to jump. It sounds silly to call it a new feature, but as a Skylanders fan; it is definitely something I have been clamoring for after the previous two games. 32 core Skylanders characters – not swappable – will be released, featuring 16 all new Skylanders and 16 new versions of fan favorites. Also look forward to collecting 8 new LightCore characters.
After a mystical volcano erupts on the Cloudbreak Islands, a group of Skylanders discovered they had the power to swap halves with other Skylanders (all of this without dying too!). Known as the SWAP Force, this special team is tasked with stopping, who else, but Kaos once again to save all of the Skylands.
