Electronic Arts Co-Founder Announces New Studio

By Marcus Jones Posted on March 6, 2013

If you have been following the gaming industry for as long as I have, Joseph Ybarra should be a familiar name. As one of the earliest producers at EA, Joe was one of the co-founders of Electronic Arts and played a major role in shaping the company into one of the leading developer and publisher companies today.

“Over the years, I had the opportunity to work with major publishers and a host of really talented people, and, in doing so, I evolved my own processes for crafting and distributing games,” Joe stated. He went on to say, “I felt the need at this point in my career to leverage all that I’ve learned, and build a new studio from the ground up with a new kind of focus on the gamer experience, and to make that one of excitement, wonder and social relevance. This represents a different approach than I had ever taken before, but one I think will result in some great things.”

Joe has announced that he has formed a brand new game development and publishing company that features his own name: Joe Got Game. Joe’s experience comes from over thirty years in the game industry and across classic titles such as the original Wasteland, Bard’s Tale, Starflight, Madden Football and M.U.L.E. The development team hopes to bring immersive gaming to both tablet and PC players.

We’ll have details on the studios first game right here at SelectButton in the coming days.
