Sony firmly announced LittleBigPlanet 3 during their E3 2014 Press Conference, confirming Sumo Digital’s upcoming project for the PlayStation 4. Not just another sequel, LittleBigPlanet 3 completely changing the way you’ll play the game by introducing three all-new characters to the endearing game series. The new characters will allow players to reach new areas that would normally be inaccessible to Sackboy.
Toggle (who we played) appears as a heavier and stronger character, capable of making platforms sin and push blocks out of the way. Instantly, he is able to become tiny, accessing the tiniest cracks in the environment. Some of the more advanced puzzles saw Toggle stand on a platform to lower it down when in his heavier form, and launch everyone standing on the platform into the air when switching to his smaller, lighter form.
While we didn’t get to test out the other characters, Sony did reveal all of the characters in a live demo presentation. Oddsock appears on all fours, much like a dog, and can jump off walls with relative ease. He is also able to power objects with his incredible speed, think running on a treadmill.
Swoop on the other hand is the only character that can fly. Using his feet, Swoop can pull platforms upwards, allowing the other characters to pass under, or pick them up and carry them throughout the environment.
As an added bonus, it was announced that all previously created content for both LittleBigPlanet and LittleBigPlanet 2 will transfer over to LBP3 automatically, complete with improved visuals.
LittleBigPlanet 3 is currently slated for November 2014, just in time for the holiday season.
