At Microsoft’s E3 2012 press conference, Microsoft announced that Xbox SmartGlass will be coming to Xbox 360, Windows 8 tablets and phones.

The technology allows you to sync your entertainment viewing across multiple devices. Start watching a movie on your smartphone and you can pause and continue it on your Xbox or vice versa.

It can also be used to compliment your games or movies. An example of Game of Thrones was shown with the series being shown on your Xbox and a realtime map shown on your phone and tablet. It can also show character positions as they move from place to place through out an episode.

On the gaming front, only concepts were shown, such as picking plays in Madden or adding new background content in Halo 4.

Xbox SmartGlass will be released this fall on Windows 8 and Xbox 360.
