HTC has announced a partnership with Valve, unveiling the retail consumer edition of Vive powered by SteamVR. On early Monday morning on 2/29, 10:00 am Eastern time to be exact, pre-orders will open worldwide with availability starting early April 2016. Vive will release as a bundle, including two wireless controllers, and 360-degree tracking and room scale movement sensors along with the headset itself. The Vive will be priced at $799 and for a limited time, it will include two VR experiences: Job Simulator and Fantastic Contraption.
The consumer edition of the Vivie comes equipped with phone integration, allowing you stay connected to the real world, without having to exit the virtual world. Using the Vice Phone Services, receiving calls, replying to texts will be simple enough to keep you connected without having to remove the Vive headset.
Developed by Owlchemy Labs, Job Simulator allows players to experience what it was like to have a job in the past, as robots have replaced all human jobs. Fantastic Contraption is being developed by Northway Games in collaboration with Radial Games, tasking players with building a machine with your very own hands.
